March 10-13th, 2014 were a few busy days spent at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Banana Coast Cruise Port and Banana Coast Tours were in attendance, promoting all that the newest Caribbean port has to offer and the cruise ship industry was listening! Holland America has signed on for a second season at Banana Coast. “We’re gratified that Holland America has expressed the confidence in Banana Coast to sign on for a second season of calls” said Randy Jorgensen, general manager of Grande Trujillo Autoridad, developer of the port. To date, six cruise lines have scheduled 56 calls at Honduras’ first mainland cruise port. Holland America Line was the first major cruise company to commit to a series of Banana Coast calls for November 2014 through March 2015. In addition to Norwegian Cruise Line and Travel Dynamics International, Silversea Cruises has slated calls in December 2014 and March 2015, and P&O Cruises and Oceania Cruises plan to call in the first quarter of 2015. Banana Coast, near the Spanish colonial town of Trujillo, is Honduras’s first mainland cruise port. The port’s motto is “Where the rainforest meets the sea”
