For tours associated with the outdoors, such as walking, hiking and kayaking we recommend guests wear comfortable shoes and clothing, bring a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Should I book my tours independently — or is it better to take the tours offered through the ship?

The cruise lines hold Banana Coast Tours responsible for quality control as well as ensure that liability insurance, registration and other areas of compliance are complete. Plus, they guarantee that the ship will not leave before participants on a ship-sponsored tour are back onboard.

Why should I book my tour with Banana Coast Tours?

Banana Coast Tours is licensed and insured as required by the cruise lines and other travel companies. All excursions also include local English-speaking and licensed guides.

Is your company owned by the cruise lines?

Should I offer gratuities on excursions?

Tipping is a discretionary matter. It is, however, customary around the world to extend gratuities/tips if one is pleased with their excursion and tour guide for their services.  You will receive a grateful smile from your tour guide. How much to tip is a personal matter and completely up to you.

Do the tours still go out if it rains?

Yes the tours run rain or shine. Weather is continuously monitored. Should weather conditions threaten the safety of the tour, it will be cancelled.

Is there a discount for children?

Select excursions offer children’s prices for children less than 12 years of age. Toddlers age 2 and younger sitting on a parent’s lap (not occupying a seat), are not charged for most excursions. If a parent would like their infant to occupy a seat or would like to utilize a safety seat, the parent must purchase an excursion ticket for the infant. Parents are also responsible for bringing a safety seat for their child (if occupying a seat).

Are there age restrictions?

For most excursions, there is no minimum age for children as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Guests under 18 years of age cannot participate without a parent or guardian.

Should we bring anything extra on the tour?

It is recommended to bring cash or credit card for any last minute purchases. Small bills are best. Local businesses will accept US Dollars, but rarely have change for large denominations. The local currency is Lempiras at an approximate exchange rate of 20 Lempiras to $1 USD.

Please refer to the symbol located next to each tour title and tour description on your cruise line website.

If you are on a private excursion with Banana Coast Tours, we can often modify the tour to meet the ability level of the group.
